Common Questions
Questions DFW Business Owners Ask Before Hiring
Most DFW contractors have been burned by SEO agencies that overpromised and underdelivered. These are the questions you should be asking any agency — including me — and the honest answers you deserve before spending a dollar.
Local SEO Basics
What is local SEO and why does it matter for DFW businesses?
Local SEO helps nearby customers find your business on Google when they search for what you offer. For DFW small businesses it's typically the highest-ROI marketing channel available. More specifically, it's the process of optimizing your online presence so your business shows up for searches like "plumber near me" or "HVAC repair Plano." Ranking in the local map pack and organic results drives clicks that convert at a much higher rate than social or display ads because the buyer already has intent. Clicks from local searches convert at a much higher rate than social or display ads because the buyer already has intent.
What's the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Regular SEO targets broad, national audiences. Local SEO is hyper-targeted to customers within a specific geography — your city or metro area. It involves building city-specific pages, schema markup, technical optimization, and AI search visibility that signal relevance to Google for searches happening in DFW. The signals, ranking factors, and strategy are fundamentally different.
Does my business need to have a physical address to rank locally?
Not necessarily. Google allows service-area businesses — plumbers, HVAC technicians, cleaners, and other businesses that travel to customers — to rank in local results without displaying a street address. You define the cities you serve and Google factors that into local rankings. That said, a verified address in your primary target city does give you a ranking advantage there.
Do you only work with businesses in certain industries?
No. I work across all local service industries in DFW — contractors, healthcare providers, law firms, restaurants, fitness studios, salons, and more. The strategies are similar across industries; what changes is the competitive landscape and the specific keywords we target. Check the Industries page to see the verticals I know best.
Results & Timeline
Can you show me real results before I commit?
Yes — and I'd encourage you to look before spending a dollar. I run every SEO strategy on this site publicly before applying it to clients. The pool builder SEO page for Plano shows exactly how a brand-new RankTop DFW page outranked a national agency with 20 years of domain authority within 4 days of launch — using the same framework I'd apply to your business.
How long before my business shows up on Google?
Most businesses see meaningful movement within 60–90 days. Competitive markets like Dallas or Fort Worth typically take 3–6 months. For lower-competition keywords and local map pack results, movement often comes sooner. SEO compounds over time — the longer you stay in, the harder your rankings are to displace.
How do you measure and report results?
I connect your site to Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 from day one, so you can see exactly what's happening. Depending on your plan, you get either a quarterly written summary or a monthly report with a Loom video walkthrough — showing ranking changes, traffic trends, and the specific optimizations I made. No vanity metrics. No graphs that don't correspond to phone calls.
My competitors have been doing SEO for years. Can I realistically beat them?
Yes — established competitors often have exploitable weaknesses in their technical setup or local content. A real strategy, not shortcuts, is what closes the gap. I start with a competitor gap analysis to find the fastest path to ranking. The businesses that commit to 6–12 months of consistent optimization consistently see the most dramatic gains, even in competitive markets.
Website & Technology
Do I need a new website to start?
Not always. If your current site is fast and mobile-friendly, we optimize what you have. If it's on Wix, Squarespace, or a slow WordPress theme, I'll recommend a rebuild — slow, poorly structured sites create a ceiling on how well SEO can perform. Either way, I'll give you an honest assessment before recommending anything that costs money.
What platform do you build websites on?
I build exclusively on Next.js — the same framework that powers this site. It produces lightning-fast static output with near-perfect Core Web Vitals scores. Unlike WordPress, there's no plugin bloat, no security patch cycle, and no page builder overhead dragging down your rankings. Every site I build is engineered for SEO from the ground up: proper schema markup, semantic HTML, mobile-first design, and sub-second load times.
Will I own my website if I stop working with you?
Your domain, Analytics, Search Console, and all content belong to you from day one. On cancellation I provide a full content export and transfer all Google account ownership within 30 days. The codebase is available at a separately agreed buyout fee if needed.
Pricing & Contracts
How much does local SEO cost in DFW?
Pricing depends on where you're starting — a standalone audit of an existing site, a one-time website build, or an ongoing growth plan that adds new pages every month. Full breakdown on the local SEO and website design pricing page.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. Everything is month-to-month. Give me 30 days' notice and you're out — no cancellation fees, no penalties, no "we need to keep your setup fee" clauses. I earn your business every month by delivering results. That's the only retention strategy I use.
Is there a minimum commitment you recommend?
I ask for 3 months practically, not contractually — SEO takes 60–90 days to show meaningful movement, and I want you to actually see results before making a long-term decision.
What payment methods do you accept?
ACH bank transfer or credit card. The setup fee is due before work begins. Monthly retainers are billed on the same date each month. I can provide invoices for bookkeeping purposes.
Working Together
How do we get started?
Review the plans on the pricing page and reach out through the contact page. No sales call required. I'll confirm which plan fits your business and answer any questions before you commit to anything.
How much of my time will this require?
Very little, by design. I handle the strategy, writing, technical work, and reporting. What I need from you: about 60–90 minutes at the start for a discovery call, your hosting login credentials, and any photos or business-specific information I can't find on my own. After onboarding, most clients spend less than 30 minutes a month reviewing their report.
Who will I actually be working with?
Me — directly. There are no junior account managers, no outsourced writers in other time zones, no hand-off to a "team" after the sale. I handle your strategy, content, and communication personally. That means you have one point of contact who knows your business, your market, and exactly where you stand.
